About SCAEC
The State Center Adult Education Consortium (S.C.A.E.C.) region is located within the Central San Joaquin Valley. The S.C.A.E.C. region includes Fresno and Madera counties and borders portions of Kings and Tulare counties. The State Center Adult Education Consortium currently has twenty (20) members including fourteen (14) adult schools, four (4) community college campuses with two additional college centers, Fresno County Superintendent of Schools and Valley R.O.P.
The State Center Adult Education Consortium maintains significant and expansive collaborative relationships with various educational and workforce partners in the region.

Our Team
Sherri WatkinsSherri Watkins, Executive Director of State Center Adult Education Consortium, has over 20 years of knowledge and experience in the adult education world. She is an experienced ESL, CTE instructor, and student advisor from the largest adult school in the Central Valley. Her prior responsibilities also include OTAN trainer of teachers, Coordinator of the U.S. Citizenship grant, CTE Program Coordinator, and AB86 Coordinator. Sherri and her team currently manage one of the largest adult education consortia in the State and she works directly with members and partners to ensure the needs of adult students are being addressed. Sherri currently serves as President-elect on the CAEAA State Board the Central Section CCAE Board.

Pang VangyiPang Vangyi is a graduate of California State University, Fresno with a Master's Degree in Counseling and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential. She has over 21 years of counseling experience with Fresno Unified School District and State Center Adult Education Consortium. As an immigrant and first generation college student, Pang fully understands the diverse needs of adults in the Central Valley. She is dedicated to ensuring that all students obtain a high quality education and are made aware of their educational and career opportunities. Pang and the transition specialists work with all members in our consortium to align, improve, and support student services. Pang supports the transition team and works regionally with all members and partners.

Oscar HinojosaOscar Hinojosa is a 2000 graduate of California State University, Stanislaus with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, and a Master of Science Degree in Educational Counseling from National University in 2004. Oscar spent over 10 years as a Regional Sports Director with Special Olympics Northern California working with various local school districts, as well as spending time both as a dropout prevention counselor and a classroom teacher for special education students. Oscar has spent the last six years working in his current role as Transition Specialist with SCAEC and is eager to assist you with your future plans.

Mary LopezMary Lopez is a first generation college student and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from California State University, Fresno. Prior to Mary’s appointment as a Transition Specialist, she served as an Outreach Counselor for a Trio program, located at Fresno State, for over 12 years, serving traditionally underrepresented adult groups with enrolling into post-secondary education. Mary has a wealth of experience with the college enrollment and financial aid process and is passionate about assisting students with furthering their educational goals.

Karina VeraKarina Vera is a native of the Fresno area and graduated from National University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership. Karina has over seven years of experience in adult education including the last four years spent working with the 15 adult schools in the State Center Adult Education Consortium, ensuring their data and accountability needs were met. Karina prides herself on building positive relationships with those around her and is looking forward to working with adult school students, consortium members, and community partners.

Kee YangKee Yang is a graduate of California State University, Stanislaus with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Prior to this position, he serviced as an Outreach and Admissions Counselor at San Jose Job Corps, promoting workforce training programs for youth and young adults. Kee also worked in the non-profit mental health field as an Employment Specialist. As a first-generation Hmong American college student, he understands the importance of guidance and mentorship when accessing new opportunities.

Allyson AdamsAllyson Adams is a graduate of California State University, Fresno with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology. Prior to her current position as Administrative Assistant for the State Center Adult Education Consortium, she was a small business owner for 16 years, which provided her with a wealth of practical experience in office management and meeting the needs of a diverse population. She takes pride in supporting all consortium members and staff in a professional and efficient manner.
