Your Transition Specialists
Pang VangyiPang Vangyi is a graduate of California State University, Fresno with a Master's Degree in Counseling and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential. She has over 25 years of counseling experience with Fresno Unified School District and State Center Adult Education Consortium. As an immigrant and first generation college student, Pang fully understands the diverse needs of adults in the Central Valley. She is dedicated to ensuring that all students obtain a high quality education and are made aware of their educational and career opportunities. Pang and the transition specialists work with all members in our consortium to align, improve, and support student services. Pang supports the transition team and works regionally with all members and partners.

Oscar HinojosaOscar Hinojosa is a 2000 graduate of California State University of Stanislaus with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, and a Master of Science Degree in Educational Counseling from National University in 2004. Oscar spent over 10 years as a Regional Sports Director with Special Olympics Northern California working with various local school districts, as well as spending time both as a dropout prevention counselor and a classroom teacher for special education students. Oscar has spent the last nine years working in his current role as Transition Specialist with SCAEC and is eager to assist you with your future plans.

Mary LopezMary Lopez is a first-generation college graduate who earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and her Master's Degree in Public Administration from California State University, Fresno. Since 2016, she has worked with the State Center Adult Education Consortium supporting adult learners in accessing education and career pathways. Previously, Mary served over 12 years as an Outreach Counselor for a TRIO program at Fresno State, helping traditionally underrepresented adult populations enroll in post-secondary education. She has extensive experience with college enrollment and financial aid and is passionate about helping students achieve their educational goals.

Kee YangKee Yang is a graduate of California State University, Stanislaus with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Prior to this position, he serviced as an Outreach and Admissions Counselor at San Jose Job Corps, promoting workforce training programs for youth and young adults. Kee also worked in the non-profit mental health field as an Employment Specialist. As a first-generation Hmong American college student, he understands the importance of guidance and mentorship when accessing new opportunities.

Karina VeraKarina Vera is a Fresno-area native who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from National University and a Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education from Western Governors University. She has worked in adult education since 2014 and has dedicated the past seven years to supporting the 15 adult schools within the State Center Adult Education Consortium (SCAEC). In her role, Karina works closely with member schools to support data management, accountability, and reporting to ensure programs effectively serve adult learners throughout the region. Karina values collaboration and takes pride in building strong relationships with students, educators, and community partners to expand educational opportunities and help adult learners reach their goals.
